Cherry Blossoms Blooming
April 4-7/INDIANAPOLIS – At White River State Park. In 2012, Indianapolis was gifted 52 Yoshino cherry trees from Japan. The gift celebrated the 100th anniversary of the blooming of cherry blossoms in Washington D.C. and honors the enduring friendship between the United States and Japan. The 52 cherry blossom trees can be found in the park between the Indianapolis Zoo and the west bank of the White River. Visitors can park in the White River State Park parking garage, cross the Old Washington Street Bridge and see the trees near Waterfront Pavilion. It is the perfect spot for family photos, a picnic, or a beautiful view of the trees in front of the downtown skyline. Cool, calm weather can extend the bloom, but a rainy, windy day can bring an abrupt end to the bloom. So check the Indianapolis weather conditions before visiting.
