The city is partnering with the public library, the 712 Initiative, Union Pacific Museum, and Pottawattamie Arts, Culture & Entertainment to give the community a holiday tradition unlike anywhere else. Nov. 17/WEST DES MOINES – 5-9 p.m. in the 100-300 blocks of fifth street in historic Valley Junction. The holiday season starts in Valley Junction as many businesses extend their hours on Thursday nights to give you more time to find the perfect holiday gift, enjoy dinner, and enjoy three blocks of free entertainment on 5th Street under the glow of over 125,000 holiday lights.
Nov. 19-Dec. 31/LE MARS – At the Scheitler Farm. Started in 1995 by Rob and Joyce Scheitler, this festive display features lighted sculptures, inflatables, music and an estimated 200,000 lights. Visitors can enjoy the display on its walking paths and grab a hot chocolate or coffee sold by the Christian Needs Center as well as baked goods sold by the Scheitlers.
