Soul Food Festival
June 20-22/FRANKLIN – At Parc Sur La Teche. A celebration of Juneteenth In Franklin with unforgettable music, delicious soul food, a 5-K run/walk and community fun. There will be a variety of activities to enjoy, including a soul food cooking contest, financial seminar and gospel brunch. A Health Village highlights the event. The festival stage will be packed with performances that bring together the heart and soul of Southern music traditions. United Houma Nation’s Powwow
June 28-29/HOUMA – At the Houma Civic Center. it’s a powerful celebration of the Indigenous people who’ve called this land home long before Houma was Houma. First, hear the drums — steady and strong. Then watch the dancers moving through the arena in bright, hand-crafted regalia, each outfit telling a story through beadwork, feathers, and movement. The PowWow features Native vendors selling handmade jewelry, beadwork, artwork, and crafts, plus food booths with traditional Indigenous dishes. Lebeau Zydeco Festival
July 5/LEBEAU – 9 a.m. – 10 p.m. on the grounds of the Lebeau Immaculate Conception Church. Celebrate this unique genre of music called zydeco with live performances, dancing, and creole cuisine-including their famous pork backbone dinners. Feel free to set up for the day with tents and lawn chairs, but no BBQ pits, ATVs, glass containers or ice chests/coolers allowed.
