May 17-19/DEER ISLE & STONINGTON –  All birders welcome! Island Heritage Trust presents a lineup of guided nature walks, puffin cruises, sea kayaking and history tours. The Festival offers a mix of activities surrounding birding, boating, nature, history, and creativity. The popular boat trip to Seal Island offers sightings of Atlantic Puffins, Razorbills, Northern Gannets, and others. Up to two dozen species of warblers can be seen on the various guided walks on Island Heritage Trust’s preserves, as well as shorebirds nesting and breeding along our extensive shoreline.

Lilac Festival

May 24-27/SOUTH PARIS – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the McLaughlin Garden and Homestead. Enjoy activities and the glorious sights and smells of 125+ varieties of lilacs set in the heart of the garden surrounded by the fresh green of spring. Our native wildflower-lined paths welcome in Western Maine’s Lilac season and frame the setting for immersive experiences. Take a guided Lilac Care Garden Tour (daily at 11 a.m.) with our horticulturist. Enjoy family-friendly activities and shopping from our curated selection of native and unique plants. Admission is $5. Trail Festival

May 25-26/NEW GLOUCESTER – Starting at 6 a.m.  with a 100k start. At Pineland Farms. Trail run along pine-scented routes, then sip a post-race beer while listening to live music with Jumpin’ Willys at this race series. Whether it’s a Saturday long run or a quick Sunday 5k, we have a challenge to fit you. Everyone who participates at the Trail Fest leaves with something awesome. T-shirts, medals, and beer! Pre-race packet pickup will be May 24, 4-7 p.m. at 15 Farm View Drive.

Lakeside Fine Art & Maker’s Festival

May 25-26/SIDNEY – 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Showcasing the very best of Maine’s talented artists, delectable culinary delights, and captivating music – set against the picturesque backdrop of Snow Pond Center for the Arts’ lakeside campus! Immerse yourself in a diverse array of exceptional artworks, accompanied by the rhythmic beats of live music, and the enticing aromas of local culinary delights, all contributing to an atmosphere of boundless creativity.
