June 20-22/SAINT PAUL – At the Minnesota State Fairgrounds. This massive classic car show is organized by the Minnesota Street Rod Assoc. (MSRA) features thousands of vintage cars, live entertainment, and a nostalgic 1950s vibe. The event attracts car enthusiasts from across the country for a weekend of cruising, music, and retro fun. The Great race isn’t a speed race, but a time/speed/distance rally.. You’ll see a variety of cars, ranging from speedsters from the Teens and ‘20s to classics from the ‘50s, ‘60s and ‘70s. The vintage vehicles, each with a driver and navigator, are given precise instructions each day that detail every move down to the second.. Worl’ds Largest Rice Festival
July 11-13/ DEER RIVER – Enjoy a pow-wow presented by the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, carnival rides, and a wild rice dinner hosted at the local Methodist church. Though wild rice still grows abundantly in some of the area lakes and rivers, the advent of “paddy rice” which is grown commercially and harvested mechanically, has made the once regional product a national available commodity. A full schedule of activities for a weekend of fun, including food, entertainment, a bike rodeo, a Wild Rice run, a cornhole tournament, kiddie parade and more.
