Thru Jan. 5/WHEATON – From 5-9:30 p.m. daily at Brookside Gardens. It has transformed into a magical winter wonderland. Stroll through the one-half mile, outdoor, walk-through exhibit and enjoy the twinkling lights and glimmering one-of-a-kind displays adorning the flowerbeds and grounds throughout the 50-acre horticultural gem in Wheaton. Shop for unique seasonal items at the Gift Shop. Tickets are timed entry with a specific day and entrance time for your arrival. Floating Beauty: Women in Art of Ukiyo-e

Thru Jan. 12/HAGERSTOWN – 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily at the Museum of Fine Arts. The enduring appeal and vibrant charm of Japanese woodblock prints are on full display in this exhibition of over 50 prints and select items of decorative art that illuminate and celebrate the lives of women during the Edo period (1603-1868). Japanese prints have long been prized by collectors and artists for their beauty, graphic appeal, and insight into what is known as Ukiyo, or “the floating world.” This exhibition features significant artists and works. This exhibition highlights female characters in literature, kabuki theater, and poetry; the courtesans and geisha of the Yoshiwara district; and wives and mothers from different social classes performing the duties of their station to gain insight into women’s lives in pre-modern Japan. Admission is free. Closed on Mondays.

Winter Ice Snow

Dec. 29/WHEATON – 1:15 – 2:45 p.m. at the Wheaton Ice Arena. Celebrate the holidays with a free performance by our figure skaters.  Performing to a variety of music, the skaters will twirl, leap, and dance their way around the rink to entertain you. Wheaton Ice Arena offers a wide range of ice skating and ice hockey classes and camps for all ages and skill levels, as well as special events and skating exhibitions throughout the year.
