BGSU Family Weekend: October 18-20

Bowling Green State University (BGSU) is gearing up for its much-anticipated Family Weekend from October 18-20. This annual tradition invites parents and family members to visit their students, create lasting memories, and explore the local community together. Registration for the event is free, although some activities may have associated costs. Families can register online at BGSU Family Weekend. During this weekend, don’t miss the chance to participate in the BG Pedal Bike TourBG Pedal Bike historic tours on October 19 where you can enjoy the city’s history while pedaling through its scenic routes. There will be scheduled stops for breaks and to see historical areas up close.

There will be 3 tours planned: 10 a.m., 11:45 a.m., 1:30 p.m.

 

VINO: A Celebration of Ohio Wines

Four wine glasses lined up On October 19, from 1 – 7 p.m., the Wood County Fairgrounds will host VINO, an exciting event for wine lovers. Attendees can sample a variety of wines, enjoy live music, and shop from local crafters and artisans. Tickets are available for presale at $42, with door tickets priced at $45. For those seeking a more exclusive experience, VIP tickets are available for $55 but must be purchased in advance.

Along the V.I.N.O. Trail, some of the ‘Vintners in Northwest Ohio’ offer fine wines, handcrafted from juices collected from across the world. Others grow hardy grapes in pristine vineyards that can withstand the coldest winter temperatures yet yield wines of exceptional quality.  Fruit wines are a favorite at many V.I.N.O. partner tasting rooms. BG Brewfest: Craft Beer and Community Fun

Bowling Green will host its third annual BG Brewfest on November 8, from 6 – 10 p.m. at the Veterans Building in City Park. This festive event, presented by Newlove Realty and supported by Easystreet Café/Grumpy Dave’s Pub, promises an evening filled with live music from local band AmpWagon and delicious samples from Bowling Green’s own breweries: Arlyn’s Good Beer, Brewing Green, and Juniper Brewing Co. Early bird tickets are available for $30, with general admission at $35 (prices increase after October 25). Each ticket includes a souvenir tasting glass and six tasting samples, along with opportunities to purchase your favorite brews. Proceeds will benefit the Bowling Green Parks & Recreation Foundation. Parent’s Night Out

Community Center Parents night outFor parents looking for a little respite while the kids enjoy some fun, the Bowling Green Community Center is bringing back its popular Parent’s Night Out program. Scheduled for select evenings, including October 11 and 25, November 8 and 22, and December 6 and 20, this program offers children an evening filled with games, arts and crafts, gym time, and more, all in a safe environment. On other days, The community center offers great recreational, educational and social opportunities for all ages.  The facility features include a multi-court gymnasium; a second large gymnasium, 1/8 mile track, fitness center, classrooms/meeting rooms, recreational & fitness activity spaces,  locker rooms, customer service counter, and offices for Department Staff.  The Bowling Green Parks & Recreation Athletic Fields and the Bowling Green Obstacle Course Trail are also located behind the Community Center.

Spooks & Spokes Slow Roll Bike Ride

The City of Bowling Green’s Bicycle Safety Commission will host the final slow roll bike ride of the 2024 season with a Halloween twist. The ride, titled Spooks & Spokes, will be held Sunday, October 20th at 2:00 PM. Riders are encouraged to decorate their bikes and dress up in bike friendly costumes! This ride will begin and end at the City Building Parking Lot, 305 N. Main St. Stops will feature local lore, stories, and some of Bowling Green’s most (allegedly) haunted locations.
