 Significant Women in Pittsburgh Art Exhibit Opening 

Art exhibit flyerWednesday, Oct. 2:  We can think of very few things better than combining local female artists with famous & historical Pittsburgh-area women!

Join PDP and Babesburgh for a happy hour exhibit unveiling of four stunning murals that will be showcased in Mellon Square Park. Seventeen women with Pittsburgh roots will be commemorated, celebrated, and illustrated. Babesburgh is proud to announce our Paint the Town Purple exhibition opening at Mellon Square at 5 p.m. This free event will serve complimentary light drinks and refreshments and with music by DJ Marz!

 

 

Octoberfest

Octoberfest flyerSeveral events are happening all over the southwestern Pennsylvania region, but this year, the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership is teaming up with Flyspace Productions to bring what they’re saying is the biggest ever. Oktoberfest Keg Tapping | On Thursday, Oct. 3: Join all at noon in Market Square for the ceremonial keg tapping, where local dignitaries and community leaders will come together to kick off the

festivities. At the Market Square, Oktoberfest Pittsburgh will also bring a Ferris wheel to the Roberto Clemente Bridge this year. Delicious Bavarian food will be served. Oktoberfest Pittsburgh will be 10 days long, running Oct. 3 through Oct. 13. It will start every day at noon. See more at www.oktpgh.com.

FREE EXHIBITIONS & GALLERIES 

 Emerging Visions 2.0 | Ongoing: A collaboration between the PDP and Silver Eye Center for Photography, this innovative exhibition features the works of three Pittsburgh artists displayed on the windows of currently vacant storefronts, creating a public-facing, multi-site gallery in the heart of Downtown. (529, 604, & 817 Liberty Ave. and 421 Seventh Ave.)
 Elemental | Ongoing: Elemental is a site-specific multi-channel video installation created by Carolina Loyola-Garcia for the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership. Located at One Oxford Centre, the installation uses seven screens to showcase a loop of nature videos depicting the ocean, an active volcano, snow, wind, sunsets, clouds, and flora, providing passersby a moment of wonder and solace amidst a busy downtown setting. (One Oxford Centre)
 Shaping the Future: National Showcase of Emerging Sculptors | Through November 8: Funded through the PDP’s Placemaking and Project Pop-Up Grants, Shaping the Future: National Showcase of Emerging Sculptors features the work of fifteen up-and-coming sculptors from across the nation who are also recipients of the 2024 Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award. (623 Smithfield St.)

Phantom Fall Fest

Through Oct. 27/KENNYWOOD PARK – This attraction is a must for ghouls and goblins of all ages. During the day, take in the fall views and enjoy festive foods and a family-friendly Halloween including kids rides being open. After 6 p.m., the terror begins as guests try and survive haunted houses and scare zones throughout the park. The nerve-racking roller coasters and devilishly delicious food make for spine tingling Kennywood fun.

 

The Basement, The Chipped Fang and Escape Rooms | ScareHouse

While their haunted house experience is closed until 2025, the masters of horror at ScareHouse are offering up three times the frights with signature experiences throughout the city.

The Basement is the ultimate horror experience as you and one other guest try to survive this intense, R-rated attraction in Etna. Meanwhile, their Strip District location is offering The Chipped Fang, a secret vampire lair full of interactive experiences and delicious mocktails, and Stalked by a Killer escape room.
