Discover Plano, a Popular Spot In Texas

The Lone Star State has no shortage of cities and towns worth your time, being one of the most populous states in the country as it is. However, while Houston, Austin, and the other big hitters might get their share of the attention (and the crowds), there’s always more to discover and, here, we’re going to look at why Plano is definitely one of those places worth finding.

Get cultured with local art

For those who have been looking for a cultural hotspot in the state, Plano is quickly becoming one of the spots most worth taking a look at. The ArtCentre of Plano is a contemporary art gallery that highlights a host of works from regional artists, including paintings, photography, sculpture, and more. The Plano Art Association Gallery is another one you should take a closer look at, too.

Enjoy a day out on the town

The city has a strong culinary culture, and this doesn’t just include the BBQ the state is famous for, but continental European dining like Luis’ Prime, as well. Beyond its authentically international cuisine, the city has great shopping, as well, with The Shops at Legacy bringing visitors from far afield for some retail therapy.

Enjoy the Historic Downtown

The Heritage Farmstead Museum, an outdoor living history museum, offers a particularly great tour of a Victorian farmhouse, blacksmith shop, and more, showing what daily life in the late 19th century looked like for many of the locals.

Get out into nature

As with many places in the state, you’re never too far from some great natural beauty, and, in the case of Plano, it’s the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve that’s most worth checking in on. This is a preserve that’s suited to family members of all ages, with its fair share of idyllic picnic spots, as well as challenging hikes, trails, and playgrounds.

There’s plenty for kids, as well

If you’re looking to entertain the kids, or simply to help them burn away all their energy, the city has plenty for the young ones to indulge in, too. Perhaps chief amongst themes is the Crayola Experience, offering over 60,000 square feet of things to do, with a focus on the joy of coloring using crayons, as well as a look into the manufacturing process, with the kids even able to get involved in wrapping up their own crayons to take home.

As one of the fastest-growing cities in the state, and often ranked among the very best places to live in the country, Plano is fast becoming too popular to remain a hidden gem. However, if you’re looking for a Texan city experience without the overcrowding and price gouging, it could be the place for you.
